Solyn — Korean food and travel storyteller

Hi, I’m Solyn.

I live in Seoul, eat probably too much, and walk a lot.

I started this site because most English-language guides miss the parts of Korea I love most — the back-alley spots locals keep quiet about, the day trips that don’t show up on top-10 lists, and the small details that make a place worth coming back to.

That’s the Korea I write about. Not the bucket-list one — the lived-in one.

What you’ll find here

How I write

Every place gets visited. Every meal gets eaten. Hours and prices come from current sources (Naver Maps for accuracy, Google Maps for your convenience), not last year’s blog posts. If something disappointed me, I say so.

I keep this site small on purpose. Better one place I genuinely loved than five filler posts.

About the Korean words

You’ll see Korean alongside the English throughout the site. I always introduce a word in English first, but the original 한글 stays because (1) it helps you read menus and signs when you’re actually here, and (2) Korean food and places taste better when you say their names right.

Stay in touch

New stories drop irregularly — when I find something worth writing about. Best way to follow along is to bookmark the homepage or read whatever section pulls you in.
